    Default Cement sheet floor

Hi, I want to lay ceramic floor tiles on 6mm cement sheet over wooden floorboards, As we only have one bathroom and I would'nt be able to lay the sheet and the tiles the same day, will it hurt to use the room, ie: shower and toilet before i get the tiles laid, will small water splashes damage the cement sheet.

Neither small or large water splashes will effect the sheet. You don't want anthing pooling underneath and effecting the floor boards, so unless you really intend to throw the wet stuff about you have nothing to worry about.

Just make sure you clean and prime the cement sheet right before you tile. You will be surprised how dirty it gets with just a few days of use ... and that can affect the tile adhesive sticking properly.

I laid 15mm cement sheeting in an area that will eventually be tiled with 300mm porcelain floor tiles. This has now had a few months worth of dirt, grime, plasterboard & cornicing droppings etc added to it. I saw previous posts recommending to roughen up the surface a bit prior to tiling to give the adhesive something to key to.

Would it be worthwhile giving it a light sand (rather than just a scrape) to clean up the plaster and cornice cement dags and provide a keying surface? What should it be primed with? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Ron
