Default Novus building deck over concrete.

Despite many attempts by others to talk me out of it I am planning to build a deck over a 4m x 3m concrete slab in the back yard. (not attached to the house).

after studying various websites and this forum this is the plan so far.

I am going to Dyna bolt 140mm x 50mm treated pine (400mm apart) to concrete using stainless steel brackets (1m apart).

The Horseshoe packers mentioned in another thread seem like a good way of getting a bit of clearance under the joists to allow drainage. The slab has a gentle slope for water to run off already, So I am wondering whether using the packers to get clearance is necessary??

Any feedback would be very much appreciated during this project as I am a novus.

If it's sitting on a slab then why use such deep joists? And stainless brackets would cost a small fortune.

I'd just use some 2x2 TP, fixed at 600mm centres with 4" galv batten screws through spaghetti. I'd use Alcor, folded to half a dozen layers, to pack it up for a bit of clearance. You get micro adjustment with more layers of Alcor to get it all dead straight.
