Default how deep do i need to excavate?

    hi all,

pretty good chance excavators are coming this weekend.

we intend to lay a slab which we will have grinded and polished. 130-140 mm, 32mpa, f82 with road base.

excavator wants to know how deep i want him to excavate but im not sure .... 200mm or more?

    thanks

Yes I would go 100mm of crushed rock (compacted depth) if your slab is 130-140mm thick. This depends on the subsoil though, if it's still soft at that depth best to go deeper otherwise it will just settle

excavation was done yesterday - no idea how deep we went but definitely deep enough area had major slope - probably went 100-150 on one end and 300 on other across 8mts

time to get concretors in to quote

    thanks again

150mm over 8m is *not* a major slop.
Part of my backyard was 1m over 4m at one stage
