    Default Searching

Maybe I am not doing it correctly but I often like to search for a particular subject and the search function doesn't seem to allow me to have a search option for "match all words" or "match phrase" (as it does in the FAQ section). I would like to be able to narrow my search parameters so that I have to sift through fewer posts to find what I am looking for. Most other forums I use allow a broader search function.

Sorry if I am missing something.

    Thanks

    Mark

    Yep, you are missing something.

At the bottom of each page is a Google search option that allows you to select search in the woodwork forum only.

You can then use all the Google search options.

Simple really, but I had never noticed it till Neil pointed it out after a similar query was posted

I find Google advanced search is a good place to search this or any other forum.

all you do, is enter into the 'domain' option woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au (or alternatively any other forum domain)
and select it to only search from there.

then use the standard form, with words, without the words, exact phrase, etc...

It is quick, it returns results in the standard google results form most of us are familiar with, and generally I get a lot more hits- more closely targeted hits- from there than I do using the built in forum searches.

EDIT- crossed posts with you Bigshed,
Pretty much saying the same thing- though the way I am describing you actually go to http://www.google.com.au/advanced_search?hl=en first, then enter the domain. Personally I actually prefer it this way- but that is just me- I can't seem to find how to get the standard advanced search form through the forum- the other advantage being that this way you can search any of your other forums that are not quite up to specs with Ubeaut.

A hearty Thanks Blokes from this little black duck too.
I had been muttering over that one myself.

    Cheers,
    Papillon.

p.s. It's amazing how bl***y obvious something is when someone points it out to you.
