    Default Skirting Finish

    Hello to all
    <o></o>
Just spent two weeks getting covered in glue laying a solid Jarrah floor

Nice job but god I ache

    <o></o>
Prior placing the floor down I took up the Jarrah skirts which have apart from the usual grime and dirt a coating of varnish

What is the best method for removal of the varnish so I can lightly sand the skirts and apply a coating of a suitable Oil/Varnish/Estapol etc etc suggestions please

    Thanks for any advice<o></o>
    <o></o>

Hi and apologies for taking so long to respond.... i imagine you've already fixed your problem but just in case - it all depends on what type of finish it is .... get that identified and you will be well on your way. If it is an old product called Estapol, welcome to hell, but if it is just about any other varnish, then a light sand should be ok but again, it does depend on what youre trying to achieve. Anything from metho and '0000' steel wool, right through to scrapers, heat guns and elbow grease may be needed.... if you're looking to retain/maintain a period style look, then a satin finish polyeurethane could work.
