Yellow Tongue over Concrete for Comfort - Any better ideas?
Hi everyone,
This is a commercial application (small warehouse), and I want to make a concrete floor more comfortable for the daily occupants. Something that reduces the direct hardness and cold of the concrete.
I was thinking of putting yellow tongue down over the concrete to do this, placing it on small battens would be better to provide some spring. But a walkie-stacker (small forklift) has to use the space as well, so it needs to take a load of up to 1.5 tonne sometimes. So the battens would need close spacing and this may reduce any planned give in the floor that I wanted for occupant comfort.
Has anyone got a better idea for providing a more comfortable floor in a small warehouse environment.
Thanks in advance.

I think the best way to deal with this particular problem would be to wear decent shoes.
Or to provide rubber mats in the places where the greatest amount of standing happens.
I reckon it'd be cheaper to carpet the whole place with a stick down commercial carpet than to do a whole floor.
cheers,
P

Hi midge,
Not the carpet idea - I expect it would take damage from the forklift; but I did go through with the mats idea. The problem with mats around the place is rolling trolleys up and downing over the edge of them. I will do some research to see what height they are.
A few mats over the total area would not keep the slab cold out though.
