I need a paint gun
Hi guys and gals, I've just registered, did a search of your forum, and didn't find what I need. Hopefully posting the question will get me some advice.
I have an air compressor and want to purchase a paint sprayer. I've never used one but want to get one for painting picnic tables, decks, trim, etc., using various paints and sealers; specifically exterior acrylic enamel. No, I'm not a professional, nor am I rich. Can/will someone recommend a good quality air/airless sprayer for the above jobs? I'm also interested in spray painting the exterior of my home next spring. Is there a spray gun that will do double duty to paint everything I've mentioned. I'm a pretty handy guy around the house, but must admit my ignorance when it comes to this topic. Any help would be appeciated.

I use a trade-air HVLP gun from bunnings for almost everything, including automotive parts, works a treat.
Price was $99 from memory, its blue and is gravity fed not a suck pot.
If you just want to do a few jobs, forget brands, just go to bunnings and buy the cheapest suck pot they have, then throw it out when you are done with it. Quite often you can get a kit with hose/fittings/sprayer/few other nicknacks for $20

clev
I purchased a Wagner Paint Crew from Home Depot when I was in the US last year. $179 on sale. I can recommend it for house painting etc. I dont know if it would be that good on fine furniture though.
I have a Porter Cable gravity feed gun for spraying finishes for woodworking projects.

I have used paint guns before for a graphic design business I did with some friends of mine. I don't have a particular brand to recommend to you, but I think it would be fine for your own DIY project use to use one of the cheaper models. No reason to spend loads of money if you're only going to use it every once in awhile instead of using it for everyday business.

Hi Clev. The capacity of your compressor will be a major factor. Standard suction cup guns need about 10cfm free air delivery. There is a lot of material on this forum on that subject and such guns as Star, Devilbiss etc.... If you can't find anything sing out and someone will find threads for you.
