G'day,
Drop the green and gold?
Go to the Aboriginal flag? We're all under the same stars in the same country, personally I find the other flag extremely devisive and not the way to "try and bring us togther" to use a PC carp phrase.
As much as I don't like the Union Jack in the flag, it was co-designed by my SWMBO great uncle (or is that great-great uncle), so I'm partial to it remaining, just not under Queenie's thumb. Change the colours of the Wallabies and Kangaroos, nah leave it.

Five almost identical entries were chosen as the winning design, and their designers shared the 200 pounds prize money. They were: Ivor Evans, a fourteen-year-old schoolboy from Melbourne; Leslie John Hawkins, a teenager apprenticed to an optician from Sydney; Egbert John Nuttall, an architect from Melbourne; Annie Dorrington, an artist from Perth; and William Stevens, a ship’s officer from Auckland, New Zealand. The five winners received 40 pounds each.

Actually I do believe the original derivative of the current Aussie flag was first flown by the Anti-Transportation League, a group who were trying to stop the transportation of convicts (not buses and trains).
So for all those who think it's some woosy sop to British government... go and read a history book!
Cheers,
P

Keep it on topic. To reiterate "Should we drop the green and gold for our international sports teams?"

As I understand it the only problem using green and gold as national colours is that Brazil got their before us.
They are the official colours of there flag and in international sport all countries line up side by side and that would pose problems.Have a good one
