Particleboard Flooring over concrete
Hi,
I found this forum while searching for info, hope someone can give me some ideas about my plan and if it will work.
I would like a to replace the carpet in our home with a timber floor, I don't like the clunky sound of the floating floors, a solid timber floor glued to the concrete would be nice, but we feel the it would be overcapitalising in this home which we may be rented out soon after renovations are finished.
I like the look of varnished particleboard floor that I have seen in a restaurant near our place and was wondering if I could direct stick particleboard to our existing concrete floor after removing the carpet.
I have been wondering what thickness board I would need. I am guessing that it would be better to use the tongue and groove flooring rather than a thinner board to make the joins smoother even though this is a lot thicker than what would be needed.
We do not have any moisture problems in the slab, so waterproofing should not be needed, but if anyone thinks otherwise please let me know.
What type of finish would be most suitable, I prefer the low sheen look on this type of floor.
Has anyone tried this before? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
