another computer question
Did a right click on My documents, went to properties > general> advanced.
I see there is a check box to compress attributes to save disk space.
Would this option distress my photographs saved in My pictures (also in my documents) ?woody U.K.

Mine says compress contents, which as I understand just makes them a little longer to access. No real benefits if you have sufficient disk space.
Have a good one

Probably not, but
a. why risk it
b. definitely won't gain much space this way.
I have all my photos stored on an external harddrive (which I back up), so let the collection grow. (In fact, I store almost no personal files on the computer - save all that for the programs, and processing, and use external drives for data.)
I do play strange games though - I already have around 2 terabytes of storage, and have another 1.5 TB drive arriving soon (primarily for the woodworking podcasts - each one takes about 80GB while I'm editing the raw footage)."Clear, Ease Springs"
