Acceptable slope in a deck

Hi,

I am currently rebuilding my deck, it is a L shaped design 5mx5m which was tiled and 8mx2m whcih runs dow the rest of teh house.

The rebuild will be completly decked, but I have noticed that there is a 60mm slope away from the house over a distance of 5m. I think this works out to be .74 degrees and is barley noticable by just looking at the bearers. The finished deck will be partly covered 2 meters from the house,.

What is a acceptable slope, if any. The bearers are attached to the house barer at one end and sit on Steel posts at the other. If I am to try and reduce the slope, what am I best to use as shims between the posts and bearers.


And to give a little back, please remember not to leave old rusted nails sticking out disgared decking. I leant the hard way yesterday. lucky it was me and not my buddy.
I don't know what was more painful, the nail in the foot or the visit to the medical centre...

Two percent is the usual cross-slope on roadways and bridge decks for satisfactory drainage. Timber decks are smoother, so don't need to be that steep. Your 60mm in 5m works out to 1.2 percent, so I'd say you're spot on.
