Had Keith Payne VC as an instructor in the army, before he won his VC. Interesting man - very calm, only ever shouted to be heard, not for emphasis. Similar temperament to a couple of champion athletes I've met - very focussed.

Does this include famous failures? I met John Howard in Hyde Park, Sydney during his first term in office, and I had a loaded gun. And an extra 6 bullets.

When I was working at the Easter Show (Sydney) I was handed an autograph book as 'lost property'. As I was 'back stage' I got some of the 'Skyhooks' to sign it & returned it to the owner via the local police - a very happy girl with a book full of very interesting signatures - her dad was a TV manager type.
