briefly , machine started making a clicking sound , sounded like bearings . They had it for 3 weeks , its under 12 months old , comes with 3 yr warranty . Picked it up yesterday with a $60 bill . Paid the bill then questioned what the warranty was for . Was told the fault was operator error . That was when i started to give em a serve . I was never given any paper work stating anything about a limited warranty . In the end from what i could work out they put a new gearbox on it , but i was charged for oil , bearings and belts . Now the belts that were on the machine new lasted 1hr and the chain lasted 1 week , so there was a problem with this machine from day one. They gave me new ones at the time . Before i took the machine back i put a new belt on incase that was making the noise , dont know where thats gone , and i put new oil in gear box too . My concern is the warranty issue . I am filing a complaint to the authorities as i think i have been wrongly charged . After a chat to a guy who said he was the new owner , he offered me $60 worth of product and i said i dont want it as i will never enter the shop again . To top it off before starting machine i checked blades and had to re align , the holes the springs sit in are not under the blades (the cutterhead was replaced too) , and 1 spring was missing . I use the jig that comes with the machine not a magnetic one as thats why it comes with one . I just think that after spending 3g+ i haven't been treated fairly .

    you funny blugga y wongo!!

Okay... Id heard the rumor that someone had taken over the orange mob... however at the show on the weekend when speaking with several people in the game here PTMS and another (not named) they had not heard anything about it... and questioned where the info came from since being in the industry here and the industry being reletively small they would have heard if someone had taken over... and the other side is that the same mob were running the stall at the show... so given that ummm what changes?

And it seems from your experience no changes eh?

Like you I made the decision to not darken their door again and will stick to that decision... I made mine a lot earlier than you and I refuse to have anything to do with them... note here some people swear by them and good on them but when you consider the amounts of issues many people are and have had with their shyte one has to wonder at their sanity

I dont know about you but for me taking back to the store was not an option... warrenty work could be done down here by a second party but was not agreed to by the company it was back to store or not at all... hence if you wander through the search you will find some threads created by me seeking Harry up theres help with mine... along with others with the same peice of shyte machine.

It is a bit of a phiss off when you spend so much money on something thats stuffed before it leaves the damned store... where you have to replace almost everything before it works even remotely right... I personally have no issue with having to change the belts not a bad idea along with the blades that come with it... change both easy as

But when it comes to gear box phissing oil all over the damned floor since day dot the seals not sealing the outfeed roller DROPPING out unexpectantly... and the probs youve experienced should NEVER happen! PERIOD!

There are several here who are what I call "hexperts" on these machines in that theyve pulled them apart and fixed replaced or whatever it takes to get the bloody thing right... Harry is one of them!

Now youve made your probs clear he or one of the others may be able to help... me Im still frustrated with mine... and still making DUMB mistakes!

    All the best
    Shane

Think you better be a sight clearer about the brand you are having issues with, or rather any brand that you are not.

Reading your post, and some specific info that you are referring to, it becomes clear to those who know the internals of these machines that you are not talking about Triton, yet they have a new 15" on the market that could well be taken as being the brand at fault, given that they are also (and very recognisably) orange.

(And now I am finally understanding Dingo's aversion to orange!)

Thanks Stu for pointing that out. Dingo's post had me baffeld about how overly passionate he was (more than normal) Would it be wrong to name the "anon" brand?

Dunno to be honest - depends on how you write it. Enough people have openly criticised Triton when they don't like something.

But I'll leave the call to the lawyer type folks (or at least those who know.) It isn't like you can't work out the brand with just a little research, so the brand is effectively named anyway - well enough for the above-mentioned lawyer types!

They aren't talking about Triton so let's just leave the naming of the brand and the company out of it.

Yes there is a new owner. Why not give the poor bloke a chance after all he is also stuck with the same stuff you have only he paid a sheeit load more for it than you.

when speaking with several people in the game here PTMS and another (not named) they had not heard anything about it... and questioned where the info came from since being in the industry here and the industry being reletively small they would have heard if someone had taken over.
Bloody amazing way to look at it eh. I haven't heard anything so it can't be true. If they had any dealings with them they would have been told the same as everyone else who had dealings with them. Probably don't know that Carba-Tec (WA) was also sold about the same time.

    Guys,
I received the flyer from the Orange mob (not Triton) introducing the new owners. The surname is Illies I think. The previous owner still helped out at the show.

Fine look I admitted I didnt know... I also only repeated what others in the industry told me... I only saw the same people in the stall as have always been there... Ive only seen the same gear nothing new (other than the whopping great resaw bandsaw that is but I wasnt lookin!! It didnt look like anything had changed... and reading seans post it still appears that way!

If someones taken it over good on em I wish them well... I dont knock them all that often in fact I dont talk about them all that often... and when I do its only in a round about way as I know it causes issues if your bloody specific... So IF theres new owners and it seems there is I do wish them well believe it or not

All the best with it sean hope you get it up and running.

Im done sorry I bloody spoke Oh and as a final comment for Stuart... its branded Sherwood mate and sold by bloody Timbecon... to hell with it name them for gods sake how can that be breaching any bloody rules? we mention carbetec by name we mention other companies by name why the hell not Timbecon?...

Fact 1. THeyre a woodworking retail company
Fact 2. They stock and sell Sherwood tools
Fact 3. The sherwood tools they stock and sell are crap
Fact 4. They have apparently been recently sold... GREAT!!! this could be the start of some good service and maybe the damned company will get back its once good name!!
Fact 5. If a company no matter who they bloody well are sell crap dont give good service to the woodworking community or otherwise stuff us around or screw us... then they should bloody well be named!

strewth now its gotten bloody pathetic... pc crap!

Again Sean all the best and I hope you get someone to give you a hand with it...

There should not be a problem naming products, brands and retailers, so long as what is said is true.

You wouldn't have problems talking about them to a gourp of friends at a club meeting. This forum could be viewed as just another club. Many businesses survivie, and fail, on word of mouth. Look at all the other posts that name brands etc. Many of these cop a fair amount of criticism / praise and no-one seems to baulk at that.

How often have you seen teh following?
What XXXX tool should I buy? Reply - I have XXXX and it is great/POS.

If you have a problem give the supplier an oppurtunity to rectify it (As seanr did)

Perhaps if this forum was brought to the attention of the supplier, it would have a change of customer focus.
