Default WOODWORKING QUIZ 15 May 04

    Good Morning Mates,
A fellow is adding on a room addition and wants to put an alcove on one corner.
The opening is 12' and the deck cantilevers out to accommodate the walls, which will be three.

The quiz is what length will the sections be for a circumscribed lengths of the wall sections?

    Respectfully,

That depends on the prevailing building regulations.

Hasn't circumscribsion gone out of fashion a bit these days?

In any case I reckon you should use one of Journeyman Mick's circular whatsits as posted on the Quiz Time Thread

Default WOODWORKING QUIZ ANSWER for 15 May 04

    Good Evening Mates,
The use of big words like a circumscribed circle is nothing to worry about as it only means the distance around and in this case the alcove is only half of a circle.

So it is common knowledge that the length of the sides of a hexagon is going to be 6", per 12" of diameter, so with a 12' diameter of twelve feet the length of the wall sections will indeed be 6'.

    Hope this answer helps someone.
