Deck Over A concrete patio + what $$
We are planning to get a deck built that is L shaped and approx 48sqm over a concrete patio using batterns and hardwood merbau.
Question is what is the approx cost of decking in NSW per sqm and considering the concrete patio will be about 65% of the total new deck area. is it ok to deck over concrete i have 55mm above patio and to get level with inside floorboards...<O</O

Any feedback much appreciated.<O</O

Also do you, can you recommend a carpenter or builder for such a project?<O</O
thanks

Decking would be around $50 per sq metre for the decking timber alone. The timber to support would also need to be factored in.
There are quite a few threads around on building low decks - I suspect you might struggle with only 55mm. Decking should be below the flooring height to avoid any kind of runoff into the house.
You could bolt 70x35mm h3 treated pine on its side to the deck, then nail into that. 50mm nails would work fine.
You should think about runoff, and how you're going to clean out the crap that collects under the board as it will build up over time. Perhaps screwing down the first board or two will allow you to get a hose underneath to wash out the rubbish.
