Just wondering what the maximum trailer width is in each state?

Echnidna, I presume you mean standard trailers we tow behind our car/ute etc.
Not a triple axle 40tonne refrigerated trailer or dual axle car trailer or a b-double or a wide frame for transporting mobile homes
really make yourself clearI would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

The maximum width for any trailer regardless if it is a 40ton trailer or a box trailer is 2.5m as DavidG said. Anything over that you should have signs displayed and will probabably need special concessions to get it registered.
