    Default Timber Portal Frame

Anyone ever attempted or seen this done?
I thinking of using something like 200x45 Hyspan LVL beams joined with plywood gusset plates to build my shed, will have a span of about 7.5m

Not sure that LVL is suitable for columns with vertical load. The strength of the stuff is when it's used as a beam. It's pretty flexy when you turn it on it's side.

Used to do it in the old days with laminated beams, and steel plate gussets.

You need an engineer, but the hispan people may have it nutted out already.
