Paypal, sometimes a credit card. A lot of credit cards have purchase protection. The cool thing about paypal is that if you are paid for something, you can keep the money in a paypal account that pays 5-6%.

!. I use Paypal to buy & sell with, its recognised worldwide and takes care of exchange rates.
    2. If a seller doesn't send the goods etc you get refunded by Paypal (stc)
    3. Most online sellers accept it.
    4. I only entered Credit card details once altogether & not on every transaction

I'd really prefer to use a non ebay company but what?

I usually contact the seller and do Direct Credit to their bank account. I provide my Bank account details for receipt of money when I sell something. Never had a problem with any method - touch wood. PayPal fees can be high if you're a seller. I've even Direct Credited to a US bank account.

Reputable online merchants - large dept stores, local companies I know, I enter credit card details.
Ebay - prefer direct deposit, even though I am taking all the risks by paying before I know anything about the seller.
Paypal if nothing else is possible.
If I"m not confident in the merchant, use the phone.
    Cheers, Richard

I have used papal for a few years now with about 100 transactions and haven’t had a problem of any kind.

I have investigated direct deposit to foreign countries with all three different banks that I have accounts with. The costs were out of this world. papal costs me nothing as a consumer, and has been the cheapest option as a vendor for the few items that I have sold in the U.S.

Looks like I'll register with Paypal...I'm a bit nervous still about giving out my bank account details or credit card details. Is it widely excepted other than by eBay?
