Installing a new dampcourse
I am proposing to fix the dampcourse in my terrace house using one of the chemical silicone treatment systems available. Does anyone know which works best out of the following:
1. Chemical injection under pressure using a machine to pump liquid into holes drilled into walls?
2. Chemical injection using gravity method ?......holes drilled and tubes left in place to feed liquid into walls using gravity?
3. Chemical injection using a cream pumped in by hand into holes drilled into wall?

Al (Ozwinner) used method 2 and I'm pretty sure he was happy with it. Do a search for his thread on the subject.

I used method 2.
The only problem I had was drilling the holes, I buggered up a new AEG hammer drill in the process, $300 worth.
I have since bought an Ozito rotary for $67 from Bunnings and it would do a better job.
I drilled 2x 8mm holes in every brick, they recommended 10mm holes, but the drill was struggling at 10mm.
The process seems to have worked ok, there are still some damp patches, but nowhere as many as there used to be.
I could go over the damp areas again with the kit if I was inclined.

I also used the Tech-Dry method & found it very easy to do, After several years the wall is still dry so the the dampcourse is working OK. No damp patches like Ozwinner but I left it six months to dry out before replastering & painting. Its something that the homeowner can do himself as I imagine the pressure & pumped method would have to be done by a 3rd person.
