vista
Whats the opinion of members at this forum on Vista?
I saw this fairly frank comment re the program.
Quote.
Its not just BIAB. Vista doesnt like to run much of anything, according to my friends at least. I refuse to buy it until I am forced to in the future. I have two legal copies of XP I will use when I build new machines. Funny thing is they just got XP to the point of near bullet proof for me at least. I also do 3D animation and rendering for a living. I push it pretty hard and it is very stable since SP2.woody U.K.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
I'm happy with XP and staying with it. There's too much risk 'upgrading' to something which will need fixes along the way.If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

I'm still running with XP. A friend of mine has Vista and to be honest with you I dont see the big advantage in paying out all that money for it. If I upgraded to a new computer then I guess I would choose to have Vista in place of XP simply because it wouldnt cost me any extra so might as well have the latest software, but to go out and buy it, I dont think so.

AFAICT, almost all the gurus more or less agree with that.
Personally, I'll be waiting until a few minimal criteria are met:- device drivers become available for my hardware! (one of the biggest complaints currently)
- Service Pack 1 or 2 is released
- I need to run SW that is Vista only. (Which, apart from MS's own pet applications, only applies to a couple of games AFAICT!)
So, unless I buy a complete new system with Vista bundled (which is about as likely as my buying new Ferrari ) I reckon I'll see another few years under Win2K.

I just ordered a new laptop and the only option was to get it with Vista. As a Microsoft Partner, we have access to all the operating system versions.
Haven't decided whether to wipe it and put XP on it or leave Vista on it. I'll have to go to Vista at some point, just not sure if I'm ready or not for the pain.

Mine seems to work okay.
Dont know why they bothered really as theres just enough there to make it different but confusing.
Like a new wife/husband/dog. Im sure itll bite me in the end.
And talk about paranoid programmes. Asks three times if you really want to do something
