Blocked sewer

I had a most unpleasant experience this morning, a blocked sewer. There was water all over the place down the sideway, thankfully, there were only a couple of No.1 flushes and two shortish showers.

Turns out that it was a root blockage from the neighbours lillypilly tree. We also have a couple of trees around where the blockage was, but the plumber was certain that it was from the lillypilly next door.

So, the question has now been raised, where does the responsibility lie? I'm not expecting that the neighbours perform regular trimming of their trees roots, but if not for their trees, there would have been no blockage.

It wasn't an expensive job, so this is more of a curiosity thing.

Get some Rootex from the hardware shop and flush it down then you will see whos tree did it, and it wont do it again.

I didn't think that rootex was that, um, permanant a solution. But if it'll 'fix' the tree that did it, I know what I'll be doing on the weekend!

I think I might start an annual drain cleaner program.

Tried to look up rootex on the net, there's a very subtle (not) difference between rootex and rootx. Rootex is a hormone for encouraging root growth (wehn trying to strike cuttings and such), rootx is the drain cleaner.
