    Why thanks, fellas.
I had one of those brekky-in-beds that only a mother could love, where they hand you a hot coffee and then jump on the bed, and while you're trying not to spill said coffee and get third degree burns the cat's trying to get its head in the mueslii and the littlest kid's drunk your juice and then sat on the tray.

Then come the most fabulous handmade gifts and cards, often mystifying in purpose but always a little tear-inducing (in a nice way...).

After all that lovin' Daddy took children out to give me my real present - kid-free time! I thought I'd get into the shed, but next thing they're all back and I can hear them bawling from the car. Someone wouldn't put their seatbelt on and got whacked by someone else, number 2 son left his panda at the park, the train ride was shut, a chinese burn administered expertly by a seven-year-old and Daddy was, well, a little cross.

"Sorry we wrecked your mother's day by coming home", says daughter, giving me a big hug. She is joined by her brothers who nearly strangle me as an expression of their love and apology. They are competitive even in their showing of affection.

We make some model dinosaur habitats with rocks and dirt and leaves and we all have a good time, and then Daddy has a nap while I clean, wash, kid-wrangle and cook dinner.....

    Gotta love 'em.
"Look out! Mum's in the shed and she's got a hammer!"
