Skew,
I can sympathise. Some of these guys/gals are unbelievable. A few years ago I was doing a clean up before moving house. The skip was in the driveway next to the house and I was thowing in a few old paint tins in the dark, and a head bobs up and says "Careful I'm in here!"
On the same occasion left a set of shelves at the front with used (but still good) shoes with a sign 'free to good home'. They took the bl***y shelves and left the shoes strewn over the footpath. I can see the funny side now but I was a bit cheesed off then.Geoff

Skew, you'd get on well with my old man. He practically sits out the front with a shotgun during council cleanups.
"Look out! Mum's in the shed and she's got a hammer!"

Ah... that comes from a stint in a country council.
There, trash is anything with recycle value, whereas garbage is what isn't trash. ie. land-fill by anyone's standards. Similarly, pavement means concreted footpath, as distinct from gravelled or earthen.... or roads, which I think is what the seppos mean by it?
Could've been worse... you could've hung 'em off the fence instead and found the palings disappearing. (Bloody wood turner's! )
