Lathe pics for djstimber
Dj ,
Here's a couple of pics of the Myford and the Record No 52 1/2 quick release vice I got at the auction last weekend. The vice I paid $32.00 for .
Now I need to build a wooden bench to hang it on.My woodworking bench consists of two old freezers with a 1" thick chipboard desktop placed on top.
The wooden blocks under the feet ar just to raise it off the bench as the capacitor on the motor sits on the bench .
I plan to get some aluminium or steel to make proper feet with level adjusters.
Would like to make a swarf and coolant tray as well.Last edited by Woodlee; 22nd April 2007 at 10:20 PM. Reason: add more

I got a 9" Joplin vice similar to that for nicks... a mate saved it from a skip bin.
Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

I havent looked at this vice at any great length as Ive been busy with the lathe ,but it looks like it will open out to at least 10".
It wieghs a ton ,so I won' t be hanging it off the makeshift bench any time soon.
if its no good it will make a good anchor for my 12 ft tinny ."Outside of a dog a book is man's best friend ,inside a dog it's too dark to read"

nice score! I would love a nice sized metal lathe like that.
Beefy looking vice too. How wide are the jaws, 10"?I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
