Default fitting a internal door to brick wall

    Hi Guys,
I want to fit a door in my hallway, my internal walls are made of brick.
Firstly how to i fix the door jamb to the brick wall.

Is there a "how to" tutorial anywhere to assist me with this project.

    Thank you
    Scott

    Hi Westie,

We're doing a similar thing, installing new door jambs into internal brick wall doorways. What we did was to dynabolt pine studs to the brick ends, packing (or planing) them until they're vertical and then fixing the assembled door jambs to the studs. The dynabolts are recessed below the surface of the stud.

It sounds more like you're planning to install a door across a hallway so you'd have make a timber frame, attach this to the brick walls and then attach the door jamb assembly to the frame.

If you're installing the door jamb assembly into an existing brick door opening you'll need wider door jambs (135x19mm) than for a timber/plasterboard opening. We couldn't find completed 135x19mm door jamb kits (except those for external doors..$$$) so we had to make our own.

Do a search and you'll find some recent threads including just about all the ideas and advice you need.

    Scott,
do you have an existing opening and if so, what dimensions is it and what size door do you wish to fit. Also what sort of jambs and archs do you have now and do you want to match them?
