How do you get the "marble" effect?
I have often wondered this and I am keen to give it a go ......using MDF for a kitchen bench/cupboards, how do you get the "marble" effect when you paint it?...

Hi manoftalent
I have done something similiar - go to spotlight or bunnings (craft section) and have a look at the special paint effects stuff. in the folk art / glass painting etc sections.
Paint effects generally require a special additive or mixture.

Plastic shopping bags scrunched up and rolled around a paint roller!
Paint a base coat colour let dry, make the paint roller so its as wide or wider than the area... sparingly load the roller and roll away with your top colour/s.
Or you can achieve a very random finish by just dabbing the bags, this will take some practice tho.....................................................................

I saw an mdf fireplace done with marbling, and you couldn't tell it from the real thing from a distance.I believe they used a feather to do the veins.

I did it at trade school years ago, didn't think it would ever become popular so I promptly forgot the techinque.
However back then we did use a feather as well as a fine signwriters brush.I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it
