    Has it always done this or is it something that has developed over time.
    If the latter then it is in need of repair.

    Sounds like digital taking time to find signal due to signal strength although our new Hitachi HD TV is painfully slow compared to the SD STB on the old CRT set.
    More info on TV, STB if the ere is one HD or SD etc etc, and your location in relation to the stations being sought.

    I assume you know what stands for?

    STB = Set Top Box

    HD = High Definition

    SD = Standard Definition

    In other words they relate to digital television

    You can buy an digital set top box, SD, to turn your current TV (television) into a digital TV.

    A HD STB needs to be connected to a suitable TV, plasma screen or LCD screen. It has much higher resolution, not all programs are broadcast in HD.

    Quite simple really

    I strongly suggest you do a search on , and , and read carefully what he has said, only just recently, on the subject.

    is a technical terminology used when the batteries are flat in the remote, the TV is switched off at the power point after changing the batteries in the remote, you are holding the remote back to front, you are holding the wrong remote or that last red just put you out of all control of the remote.
