    Default Melbourne F1 Grand Prix

Any one going to the F1 tomorrow?
Ive got a ticket in the Prost stand for tomorrow and maybe Saturday or Sunday, so does anyone know if it is a good position on the track?

Apart from a good set of earplugs , any one got any tips on what to take or do on the day?(apart from drink over priced beer?

I feel like an excited little kid the day before going to the Royal Melbourne show

I hope the image of the track helps - I have marked where the "Prost Stand" is.

Your biggest problem is that it's in Melbourne

Mate, a grandstand ticket allows you to see a wee bit of the track and that's it. You'll have a foggy idea of what's happening and will wind up just watching very loud, coloured things go belting by - it's GREAT

You've got yourself a seat, a reserved seat. So you're safe. Spend the practice sessions and support races wandering around the circuit, getting close to the track - try to stand as close to the fence as you can at the fastest part of the track for at least five minutes while the F1s are out - it's an experience and a half. But spend the non-GP time wandering and enjoying, and some of the most fascinating watching is the paddock area for the support races. Your seat's there waiting for you. Then, for the F1 race, settle into your seat and enjoy the event. Best way of getting a bit of everything - there is no single place on any circuit that gives you an 'all of event' experience.

I don't know how those backward people in Melbourne do it, but in Adelaide, they had a course commentary going out on FM radio - the best way to keep in contact with what's happening.

And ear muffs - ear plugs and ear muffs are essential. If you are listening to a radio, get some of those ear buds that plug the ear.

    Have fun

I will be content watching the Roulettes do their thing when they land here at Essendon Airport before and after fly-pasts. We often get a free show when they loop-the-loop over the Moonee Ponds creek before landing

Had some great times at the Adelaide GP. Shame it went to Melbourne but you get that. Either way it's a good idea to walk the track. You get to see more if you set yourself up on the outside of fastish turns on the outside. The inside your view is too limited to see much. Middle of the straights are a no no as they will howl past too quickly for you to see much. Don't get much passing these days in F1 the likely spot to see passing is at the end of a straight before a hairpin.

OK, so I'm surprised anyone replied, but it seems there are a few fans.

I am having trouble typing right now as I very pi$$ed........

Lets just say my reserved prost seat morphed into a corporate box, and I didn't lift a foot when I walked through the gate..........golf cart driven with hot chicks.....pics and movies tomorrow.

What a bummer as the Tibetan monks have a kick ass show on the Mordi foreshore and im gunna go look at that. When thats over ill sit at the Beach road/Nepean HWY round-a-bout for 20 minutes and just pretend its the GP

Is that the Shao Lin monks doing their show there Lignum?

Anyway Martrix enjoy your stand and your hot chicks, take a camera so we can check them out for you. Don't get too drunk in the box as when the F1 hits the track it will really hurt

Who is this moron doing the commentary ? he talks too fast and keeps cutting in on Murray and the others.

    I've just jumped ship again.
When Webber made it to the big time, I thought I'd follow him,
but today was the last straw
I'm going back to following the McLaren cars......

    Webber.... great BBQ's
    average racers....IMO

Sheeze Fred Weber put on a pretty good show I thought. Look where his team mate qualified and finished. Weber got more out of his car than Coulthard did out of his. Adrian Newey is doing the Red Bull car so you can expect it to come on in leaps and bounds. Weber is safely in that third tier. Basically Ferrari is the best right now, then McLaren and BMW, after that a big pack. Haven't noticed who is at the back but basically Spyca and friends.

Expect to see Weber competing and scoring points.

To go from 7th to 13th is heading in the wrong direction to me
Everyone (big knobs who know the industry) says he has the goods??
4 years (I think) in the seat, and not that much to show??
I thought his second move was to a better car, but still he got average results. I hope he does well and kicks some serious butt on the track, but I've moved on Good luck to him
