Bandsaw blade supplier in Melb.?
G'day,
I've done a search but couldn't find the thread for it. A while ago someone posted of the whereabouts for a maker/suplier of blades in Melbourne.
I usually contact Henry Bros. for them but thought this time around I might give whatstheirname a go.
It's Friday and I'm posting drivel in the Friday thread and with my head being a bit whacked being a Friday I need your help.

Waldo
Who did you order them from and do you have a contact number as I am after the same thing for my HP-16A that came 2 weeks ago. Have got mine nicely tuned up thanks to all the help from the threads posted lately on problems with the height adjustment of the blade and tracking. Found I had the same problems as all others and everything not done up tight. Much fun for most of one day but running really well now. Can cut a 150mm veneer 1.5mm thick and check just about perfect witht eh verniers so am quite happy with my purchace. Yes they do deliver them lying done and when I picked it up in the trailer I asked the guy which way was up and he didn't know. Found they put it in with the bottom end in first which meant I had to heave 140kg of box round in the trailer so that I could slide it out and stand it up in one motion.
Cheers

G'day David H,
As you're in Brisbane I'd give Peacock Saws in West End a bell.

When I first got it yes there was a far amount of vibration but that seemed to go away when I learned to tension the blade up tighter. It appeared that it was related to the blade being a little to loose which was causing it to slap as it returned to the top but when tensioned up more it ran really smooth. Once it had been fine tuned and the wheels were running parallel to each other it cetainily7 helped alot. No doubt that the wheels could be more balanced but for the moment am happy that it finally arrived. Been waiting since beginning of Nov 06.

Max at C&S is a top bloke
I bought a bunch of blades from C&S and have found Max to be a very knowledgable and nice guy. He helped me out with a problem, which probaby involved him taking a hit on some profit, and it wasn't a problem for him at all.
Highly, highly recommended.
Cheers,
Justin.

Thanks for the tip Waldo.
Great guy and knows his stuff. Anyone in Melb should check him out next time you need a bandsaw blade. I think he specialises mainly in Band saw blades and sharpening saw blades, his workshop is full of them.
A fella worth supporting, as people like him will eventually be a disappearing resource. Going into his shop is like stepping back in time.
I wanted a more aggressive blade than the 3 TPI 1/2" hook one I was using to resaw redgum.....I think this should cope .I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

G'day Matrix,
You've made my eyes water just looking at that nasty blade you've got there, the poor timber you'll be hrowing through the b/saw doesn't stand a chance.
What is it, 1tpi?

Tell me about it. Will be well switched on when using this sucker. Not that I ever switch off when using fast spinning sharp things.
I think its a little thinner than a normal 1" blade, something like 0.029" or 0.022" so its less stressful going around the 15" wheels, as on the BP 16A you're not really supposed to go any bigger than 3/4".
Yes its 1.11 tpi.I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
