2 Sqn Reunion
Any ex 2 Squadron blokes out there. In August there is going to be a reunion in Canberra to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the deployment of 2 Sqn to Phang Rang. Still in the planning stages but activities proposed are:
meet & greet
dedication of memorial plaque at the AWM
Vietnam Vtes day service
dinner
and hopefully a flypast by the Temora Canberra.
See ya there

Hi Groggy, yes a mate of mine's son is in 2 Sqn, he was here yesterday and told me about the reunion. He gave me a new 2 Sqn cap, he is also into the history of the sqn and I have given him some of my pix etc.
Cheers

It''ll be great to see 2SQN back in the air when they get their awacs from the manufacturer. Its getting around the grapvine that the first 2 will be delivered around 2010. Get it timed for the possible arrival of the super hornet which is meant to be the replacement for the F111.
Dave,

The AEWC has been on target during manufacture (hardware). Now the software and integration effort is underway expect the schedule to move to the right.
The Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) will replace the F-111, the Super Hornet is a stop-gap (due to delays in the JSF project), in much the same way as the Phantom was for the F-111.
The rumours of the F-22 being chosen instead of the JSF are just that - rumours. The US will not export the F-22 to any allies. It is also not a bomber, but primarily a fighter, and does not have the payload. That said, it is the most advanced aircraft in the world today and extremely hard to detect/shoot down.
If I can have a little gloat, I got to watch the first F-22s as they were built and underwent test flights .

Bummer, wouldn't know anyone...how about 1AD, Rad School, 1FTS, OTS or just plain old bloody Edinburgh.
Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.
