Darwin 1942 - 65th Anniversary
So, who, like me, forgot that Monday 19th was the 65th anniversary of the bombing of Darwin by the Japanese Navy & Airforce. More aircraft attacked Darwin in that first raid than attacked Pearl Harbour.
I was reminded by a mate who is working on Baz Lurman's new flick - provisionally called 'Australia', - but I did not see or hear anything about it in our media - perhaps they don't want to offend the Japanese by mentioning the war?

Was on the news up here on Monday night. At school everyone observed a moments pause for all those that lost their lives.
Have a nice day - Cheers

Ya know back in 1972 I was working (building renovations) in the old wartime powerhouse in Darwin (Stuart Park). We had to clean out the store sheds. One of the sheds had all the old daily running log books. I started looking/reading through them and discovered enteries had been made for each and everytime Darwin was raided. We were looking/reading apart of history, so we contacted the NT Museum, told them what we had and do they want them, the reply was NO. The log books were dumped. I've regretted doing that ever since... should have personally kept em.
