Roof sheets secured in the valley

Barry,
I'm surprised that Lysaght is okay with pan fixed sheeting. I don't doubt you, I'm just surprised that they're okay with a technique which greatly increases the chance of leaks. Besides saving a few bucks by being able to use shorter screws (partly offset by having to screw the laps together) is there any good reason for doing so?

Here is a link where they say that Flatdek is a pan fixed profile. Now I admit that they say that it is to be used where a high degree of weather protection is not critical but bear in mind the is a 2 degree pitch product that increases the ponding of water especially in as much this profile will span up 5100 unsupported on non trafficable roofs.

Spanline has been pan fixing their roof sheet for 18 years on Glass Rooms, Screen Rooms and Patio Roofs with out any problems.

The laps on both Flatdek and the Spanline are not a problem as they clip together.

For years Ranbuild supplied 12 x 20 Teks to pan fix their roof sheet on their sheds. That practise no doubt has changed seeing that Lysaghts now own Ranbuild.

As I said the practise is not recommended but I have seen it used without any problem.

In cyclone areas it can't be used as pierce fixed roofing in those areas must have cyclone clips and they only work on the crests of the sheeting.

The website for Superdek definately states crest fixing ONLY for roofing applications.

Pan fixing is only suitable for walling, carport and verandah applications or where weather tight roofing is not essential.
