Doof-Doof Cricket
I am NOT a fan of brain-numbing, synapse-destroying, mainly-septic Doof-Doof music (?). You get it in shops, on the street, in pubs etc, etc.
But when they put it on at the cricket, it's gone too far! Watching the one day final the other day, EVERY tiny break in play was accompanied by this crap they have the nerve to call music. After every over. After every boundary. After every dismissal.
Pity the poor buggers who actually payed big bickies to be there.
Come on, organisers, where the hell did you get the idea that people actually WANT this crap?

It's incredibly repetitive and I used to hate it but I've changed my mind. I've been to a few all night rave parties with my son and the experience was incredible. Amazing laser shows and non stop dancing that puts you in a trance as if you're in another world. Some of the DJs are extremely talented with their mixing skills.
I've got heaps of doof doof on my PC now, along with all my favourite golden oldies and a bit of gangsta rap.
Get with the times Eddie The world won't stand still for you.

Lost it more like. Your brain has been sucked out and replaced with a sponge.

Stand your ground Eddy, the rest of the world's been trashed as well and isn't worth the effort needed to keep up. I long for gentler times.

It don't mind a bit of electro/funk/jazz type stuff when I'm in the mood.
BUT... I hate the way that Aussie sports have taken on the feel of Seppo baseball games.
Come on! If I hear WE WILL, WE WILL ROCK YOU again I'm going to spew!
Its the very reason that no one watches basketball for cristsake!
Its way too American for my liking.
Appologies Wongo and our American friends but its a sort of american cultural colonialism which I personally feel is best left out of our sporting arena's especially seeing that the only thing these sports have in common with america is the fact that Rupert Murdoch makes some money out of them.

I work in a centre that houses people with behavioural problems, we have two buildings, one staffed by young staff who love to crank up the doof doof, there are a lot of problems in that building, I run classical and most of our clients remain calm and even sleep.
This has been documented in the past but the younger staff still maintain it is unfounded despite what they are seeing.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

I like that. A sponge that soaks up useful information. Yeh, jazz is good. I've got a bit of that, along with R&B, accapella, classical, country and western, blues, rock, pop, acoustic guitar, in fact I've got a bit of just about every style except 'boy bands' and heavy metal. I can't stand that head banging shyte, and I'm with you in hating that "WE WILL, WE WILL ROCK YOU" BS.
Now for some real music, check my sig.

Well back in the day when you were young, there was probably some older folk who didnt like the stuff you called music...
And no I dont like tekno, but many label most modern music as doof doof.....................................................................

11th February 2007, 06:26 PM #12My music yardstick is pretty simple.
If it is - or has ever been - played on a radio station with a top 40/easy listening/classic rock/greatest hits format, there is a greater than 99.9% chance that I will find it totally unappealing, boring and repetitive noise.
This specifically includes artists such as The Beatles, Air Supply, Genesis, Elvis, Daddy Cool, The Eagles, Cold Chisel, Cher, John Farnham and Michael Jackson...just to mention a few who really make me grind my teeth in anger. (I find listening listening to a circular saw cutting through colourbond sheet preferable to listening to those artists).
I dont mind doof (house/trance/electronica) as it makes good background music for mundane tasks such as cleaning, and its certainly better than what most radio stations play.
