building permits
Do i need a building permit to build a deck in victoria? I heard you dont need one if it costs under $5000... true? Or do they all need one? cheers

Mako planning issues etc aside some councils require building permits.
Most, if the deck is under 20 m2 & less than a meter above g/l don't.
As mentioned it's best to check with the local building dep't.
Even if you don't need a permit make sure you don't bridge any termite protection that may be in place.Peter Clarkson
