    Default New Apple iPhone

If you haven't heard, Apple has announced a fancy new mobile phone that is all-singing, all-dancing. It won't be available in Australia for some time, and there is already a lawsuit from Cisco regarding the name (the iPhone name belongs to one of their companies apparently)

Anyway, being the latest flashy tech gadget, it's become a bit of a target. I particularly enjoyed this one:

If my friends expriences with I-Pods are any indication of Apple's quality control, I'll stick with my Nokia. Repeated breakdowns, no repairs etc. Apple - at least in Oz- and their dealers have repeatedly screwed their customers, but the customers keep going back - must be something like cocaine.

They burnt me once, never again.

I've heard of the problems some have had, but then, I'm on my fourth iPod (and all the previous ones are still working fine too), so they are not all bad!

If their innovations in their phone are anything like their computers, iPods etc, then it will be a very interesting device to play with!

    BTW - love the cartoon!

Battery life is the only thing from iPods that would bug me about an iPhone, hopefully the battery will be user-replaceable. On the other hand, I'm not likely to have an iPhone - I like phones that are designed to make phone calls...

I've bought 3 iPods for the kids over the years. 1 got old, and was eventually cannibalised to supply parts for a relative's dead version. The second got left at a security checkpoint in Gatwick airport, and the third (the replacement for #2) is happily working. Clearly, the devices are not perfect, but they do generally work. Given the huge numbers made, there are going to be lemons, just like any other mass-produced electronic gizmo.

Certainly agree with that - that is why I have a phone, a PDA, a pocket sized digital camera, and an iPod. Each do a great job of what they are designed for.

But an iPhone sounds like a great (additional) toy, and I like digital toys
