Default Australia Day Photo Thread 2007

Last year we had a Australia Day Photo Thread where forum members were encouraged to take a photo of the great country and post it on Australia Day.

Take a picture of anything that shows Australia or something Australian between now and Australia Day and post it here.

Wow! Cliff that is just amazing. You must of stood on a chair to get that photo. How did you get the names on? Piles of painted rocks?

Cliff, Ya can't submit pics from 5 years hence, when the drought takes over completely. Where's the green on the east coast and the Continental shelf and the dolphins frollicking in the Bight???? I think you got this pic from a book or something!!

    Regards

    Rob

    What is a book?
You had better go with a 'something'.

OK, it's been a bit quiet here, so I'm going to cheat, and post a couple of shots I took on New Year's Eve at Mt Hay in the Blue Mountains.

After the recent bushfires, there were heaps of tiny shoots and flowers appearing in all sorts of wierd places. At first the mountains looked quite desolate, but we spent a wonderful few hours poking round in the "snow" ....

    Cheers,

    P

OK, this wasn't taken on Australia Day either, but it was taken by a Scot I worked with in Auckland, during a conference held in Melbourne, just for homesick me.
Not much else to say, but this should stir some feeling.

This young feller comes for a drink every day, and twice we've seen him have a bath, and once a swim (when he fell in the pond).....we must have the only accessable water for miles.

Another cheat, but I've been scanning my late (very late I suppose) Father's slides and sorting them while I've still got a Mother who can confirm my hazy memory .

So for those worried about running out of water, global warming, and all that sort of stuff, here's a picture of the Town Water Reservoir on Thursday Island in 1957.

Yep, 50 years ago. Down near the patch of water I'd pick off the crust and play with the smoothest clay I'd ever seen! (Scanned from a 35mm slide)

    Cheers,

    P
