Poles for temporary ceiling support

Where can I buy structural aluminium extension poles in <st1:city><st1 ="">Sydney</st1></st1:city>?

</o>I want to use them to temporarily support a plaster ceiling while doing some minor repairs.

</o>The ceiling is in a small bathroom which has a tiled concrete floor and lathe and plaster ceiling. The ceiling height is about 3.4 metres (11ft).

</o>The ceiling is basically sound but a few spots have come away where an electrician kindly decided to stand on it instead of the joists while doing some re-wiring work years ago.

I want to buy the extension poles rather than hire because I will have plenty of other uses for them.

If you're only propping the plasterboard and other similar light duty work a couple of "toms" will suffice. A length of stud with a horizontal member about 600 long screwed or nailed to the top. You can either cut them slightly longer than required and just jam them in place (you can do this one handed whilst pushing the sheet up with the other) or you can cut them slightly short and wedge them up tight. Not as fancy or versatile as metal props, but cheap and easy to make on site and you can recycle the timber afterwards.

"Toms" are cheap, recyclable, adjustable, and work well.
Most ceiling heights are roughly the same height....so adjustment is feasible.
