    Question Removing burn marks

I am currently stripping hoop pine doors and have found they have been previously stripped, possibly with a blow torch. There are several unsightly burn marks which appear to go quite deep.

Is there a method of lightening these marks? I have sanded them with a random orbital which has removed the minor blemishes including the swirlies left from someones old orbital.

I thank the forum in anticipation.

I read recently that you can sand them out and then apply a weak solution of bleach to fade the blemish. I've never tried it myself, and i'd practice on a scrap first!
Perhaps this would be good if you were going to re-stain the doors? Otherwise it might leave an obvious mark. Worth an experiment.....
Otherwise, its a belt sander and take lots of material off - which i imagine you don't want to do.

    All the best.

sounds like a distressed finish is in order.

seriously the burns if they arent bad might disapear under the right finish.

    Thanks guys

Most of the burns came out by getting a little bit more radical with the sander.
