    Finally found out what books are for the other day, thought i'd better share...:

    Good idea, but would be interested to see how you glass is looking now.

    Sparks and glass don't mix.

    Glass is fine, melting point of glass is about 1200 degrees C, bit higher than the sparks!

    Melting point might be high, but in one of my old jobs as an on site welder, the stories you hear about the welders who use grinders and cut off saws near glass was neverending.

    I have seen brand new windows in new houses having to be replaced cause of grinding or cutting near windows.

    if that glass is to be used for something, I would suggest you move it before doing any cutting or grinding.

    Melting point of mild steel is 1515 ° C, so when those grinding sparks hit the glass, they will dissolve and you will have a nicely pitted effect, if thats what you're after . DAMHIKT...

    I have often used books for the same purpose, especially when different supports don't quite match up.
