You know I used to think the same thing about Ponting for his first 40/50 tests!!!
I think for the first 50 tests his average was about 40/45 and for the last fifty his average has been something like 70/80. Hopefully Clarke will take the same path, and once Hussey starts to improve his average we will really be getting somewhere. There was a young boy called Wyatt

Well here's a poser. Who do you all think will be the next Australian Captain after Ponting?
Myself, I think it will probably be M.E. Clarke.
Discuss.

M.E. Clarke, as you quite correctly pointed out, is a poser. Or is that posier?
I must confess, I had the same thoughts this arvo. I thought to m'self "Midge, I reckon you're watching a future captain of Australia here".
I suspect he'll do a Kim, flash in, then flash out(Beasley or Hughes, it doesn't matter) after all if he permed his hair he'd pass for one of Hughes' love children, and he's flash enough to be one. I reckon he could do a good sook on tele too every time the team lost.
Cheers,

Adelaide Test thread???
Bah Humbug ..... Once the poms had made their runs I reckon the Aussies just went into batting practice mode.......
If you can't win it slow it down and use it for some practice is what I think went through Punters mind.

In an effort to divine the next Captain of Australia, I consulted the traditional Norse Runes last night. Initially they thought I was asking about Ice Hockey, but..
The answer is clear. Damien Martyn, as follows
Runes were spread and layed out in a line left to right as required.
Martyn becomes Phartyn which becomes Phartyng (some Danish there I think) which becomes Parting which becomes Ponting!!
The truth is irrefutable (ask Robert Palmer) There was some stuff about BBQ's and Japanese Electrical products, but I think these were just red herrings or rollmops.
Regards
Rob
