Washing machine fix...
The dreaded Fisher & Paykel, as mentioned in an earlier post somewhere else, got inside it thismorning and attempteed to undo the screws that hold in the pump asse4mbly, got out 3 and found a 4th hidden under the motor where I cannot access with any earthly tool.
Pull out washing machine and tip on back and lo and behold there is a little plastic clip on the front of the assembly, press clip, twist and out drops pump and motor.
Have a look at the impeller and there is the problem, one of SWMBO's safety pins has found its way in and has embedded itself in the rubber impeller, remove offending safety pin, clean up and put back together, no grating noises and all appears well.
If only I had a manual, could have saved myself a coup[le of hours of heartache, and not pulled the damned machine out as this is accessible via the front removable panel.
Bugger.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

Know what you mean Iain! I have a $70 piece of fluff. Didn't read the manual, so got the fixer guy around who promptly whips off the front bottom panel, undoes the plug and amongst the sea of water pulls out the offending piece of fluff. Puts it all back together, hands me the bill & the fluff and leaves me with a small swimming pool to clean up. Yep, gotta love those repairmen
This time round, I still had the swimming pool to contend with, and 4 pieces of engineers chalk, washers, small bolts and Goodness knows what else but no $70 billBox Challenge 2011 - Check out the amazing Boxes!

Not quite free, just snapped the nylon tap fitting and had to go to the local thief for a new hose assembly, $25 for 2 mts hose with crimped on fittings.
Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

Not a washing machine, but I'm still smarting from Hyundai's $136 for 4 spark plugs, and their offer of $60 to change 3 indicator bulbs!!
Did the bulbs for $10.00, and 2 minutes of my time. Only took that long 'cause I was showing 14 yo son how to save $60
