    Default Undesirable links.

I am just curious as to how often this occurs, came online at about 8.30am today and found a link in 'Free Stuff Prize Draws'.
Quick phone call remedied the post, but I am merely curious as to how often these morons get in and corrupt (or attempt to corrupt) this forum.
If is your thing, fine, but don't share it here (not talking about my wicked weasel link either ).

I think it happens very often and thanks to the moderators they disappear very quickly.

Yesterday afternoon there was one that showed up in the new post search but before I got to opening it was already deleted.

I think there might be a lot of stuff that we don't see as the mods are hard at work.

I've never seen one, and have wondered how you keep them out.

Now I know its through quick work, well done.

Some days there are very few spam attacks, some days there are 20-30 usually from the same ISP addresses.
A lot of them get jumped on well before the post is reported.

The problem with attacks is that Google locks on to it as part of its search string then directs traffic to this site.

We delete the post, ban the spammer then Admin block the IP addresses.

When you report a post for spam attack, an email is sent to all mods and admin, then there is a new thread opened up in the admin section for us to see, comment/act on.

So keep up the good work by reporting them.

    I'm missing out again.

I guess the trolls have figured out how to hijack registration on popular BB software. Fortunate we have such alert admins & mods, or it'd be a whole lot worse.

    Thanks, guys.

I don't think I saw any up to about a week ago. Just reported four of 'em, all from different members.

If we report an obvious /advertisment thread should we also post to that thread stating it's been reported to stop you blokes getting hit with a dozen emails about the same thread?

Yeah I suppose I should report them instead of making a smartarsed reply. Oh well.

Just report them Dan. A few emails in the inbox isn't an issue and most spam tends not to last too long - a few reports on the same post is a signal that one of the other mods hasn't been in yet.

    Al,

Maybe you could leave one of the links in for a while just so the rest of us could follow it and see first hand what it is that you're protecting us from? Purely educational, of course. That way, we can fully appreciate the magnificent job you moderators do for us.

I didnt see the spam as them up there had done away with it, but odds on it all came from the same IP address.
