We always follow the lead of the large department stores. Ours has been up since July.

They turned on the lights on the big one in the Sydney CBD the other day so it's probaby not too early if you're into Christmas trees.
We don't "do" Christmas trees at our place.

D'ya think you've got some sort of say in this? I urge caution, Brother Farm boy. If you start messing about with decisions over Chrissy decorations, you might find that she'll want reciprocal rights in the shed  . That would be a very serious Code violation.
Refer to Joe Greiner's post above.

December first mate ... well, that's what I tell the kids and then manage things to delay it as long as possible - sometimes I've managed to stretch it until late afternoon on Dec 1

Ours was up a couple of weeks ago. Kids hint of it as soon as they see the christmas ##### being lashed around the shops uno.
What a wank the whole thing is anyway. I'm not religious AND I have to lie to the kids about a flying pisspot AND its all become such a huge sales con anyway......kids don't need any more gifts. Spoilt ####eless the lot of them anyway. ....still we're all drawn into it anyway.
doesn't matter. No need to be negitive eh. Better to be mindlessly jolly instead.....
Merrrrrrry Christmas everyone ! joy to the world the lord has come...

Apricot, (or is that tripper??)
I'm not sure, but I think I detect hostility. (but don't feel alone). Try this, say out loud Bah! Humbug! You can also mumble in public "can't stand happiness!"
This year we'll do what all good expathology staff do,"Try to dismember a guy in December", then "Deck the halls with parts of Molly."

I called Rabbi Weinstein today for an expert opinion and just got a prolonged silence on when to start celebrating Christmas:confused:

For the last 18 years, the festive season has been ignored in our house.
The only tradition we observe is that Christmas lunch must consist of Tomato and Onion sangers.with far too much salt and pepper, and made early in the morning so that they are soggy by lunch time.
Fantastic!

Noel

Well the orders been placed by the hoonberries... I am to be Santa this year!! gawd help us all
So today I placed the order with her bloody highness as official Aussie Santa Im gonna need:
1 pair of bright red stubbie shorts with white fringe around the legs and a black belt... I will need a black pair of thongs... a red singlet with appropriate white fringing again on arm holes.. and a green hat... if this can be done I am on the hunt for a picture of a white boomer so I can use a thingy of which I cant recall its name to enlarge it so I can cut 6 of them out and with some sort of chrissy majik stick them on the side of the F100...
IF Im gonna be bloody santa Im gonna bloody well be COOL!! Damned if Im gonna wear a friggin hot bloody suit in this weather for any buggar  ... and we dont have reindeers we have 6 white boomers AND we dont do snow we have SUN HEAT AND FLIES! and I will not be in a sleigh I WILL be in the ute.
And if all that comes together I have promised not to shave my white beard nor cut my long locks and I have given carte blanche to the girls to dye my hair or peroxide whichever they think will make those headlocks of mine the whitest and do it all again NEXT YEAR Of course as young Tiffany said tonight THAT could mean some probs with their wedding next November! To be on the beach... I'll be like the rest of the manly side in boardies only I'll be the wee tubby git sporting the long white beard and long flowing locks Im gonna look like some hippy yippee yahoos worst nightmare... or one of my own worst flashbacks!
End of story. maybe?
Deccys go up when we are ready... usually around Devember 10 or so... stayup till around January 10... just the way it goes around here we did try the pressys under the tree the other year but with 8 kids and 3 extras along with sundry family attendies it got to the point where the living room was awash with presents so we dont do that anymore the kids start putting theirs out the day before and we bung ours down after theyve nodded off on the night...
I however am a grinch when it comes to Chrissy morning pressy offerings... I cannot be woken I must not be worken I will awaken when I am good and ready AND under no circumstances must pressy openin activities be started BEFORE I am awake... had my shower... had 2 cups of caffine... had bacon and eggs... the dishes are done the other jobs out the way... and I in my glorious paternal way am firmly ensconsed in my favorite recliner with fresh coffee in hand... then and ONLY then my the activities begin
And hence why she her bloody highness cheets EVERY year!... makes these bloody great chrissy morning goodies bags out of pillow slips and fills them with all sorts of goodies that really arent much good for them but keeps the little blighters entertained for hours so I awaken in my own time... I dont think this is right you know cause I did catch that shedevil running from the room after my big toes felt that they were caught in a vice  I do think she had something to do with that ... so maybe theres a joint chrissy mornin conspiricy around here  aaahh well tis all good funBelieve me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!
