Finish, staining bamboo
Hi all,
I know basically nothing about woodworking. I would really like to learn though. I am planning to make a long table to put my orchids on so I can sit them next to my window. I want to make it out of bamboo. What can I use to stain the bamboo with? Can I use any wood stain or do I need something special? Also, if part of it is wood, will using the same stain on the wood and bamboo produce the same color? Thanks for any suggestions.

G'day,
I have stained Bamboo here at my place - I used a product called Timber Glow (It can be tinted in a range of colours) Other than that you can use Tinted Vanish - that works a treat too..
Hope this helpsCheers,
Darren (aka Felix)

Bamboo has a waxy surface layer that you will need to remove before you put any finish on. e.g. a quick rub over with steel wool before you add stain etc. Other than that it is just like any other wood.
