Default All we had was a piece of Cardboard to live in....

    Hi, i need your help.
I am chasing the script from that radio play (i think thats what it was) that has the irishmen talking about what they had when they were growing up, and they would out do each other...

something like this... (in modern terms)

When i was a kid we only had a 12inch colour tv..

Gee you had it good, we didn't have tv, we had to listen to the radio....

    etc...

    Can anyone help!

    Thanks

    Paul

It was two Cornishmen and it's a Monty Python skit. That might help you google it. Lovely skit that.

You're right ... of course, but I started to type this before you put up the link. That's scary, you press the button for a quote and the message is different to what it was a moment ago

This sketch (or a version of it) was originally done on 'At last, the 1948 Show!' in the late 1960's so pre-dated Python.

I guess that since Cleese, Idle and Chapman were a core of the '48 show, it probably was an evolution of the original idea then!

I've got it here somewhere. It was more than 2 though. There were 4 or 5 of them in the Monty Python version.
