I'll take a punt with no actual reasoning behind it and say: They never did?

1941. A Germany declared war 3 days after Pearl Harbour and the U.S. reciprocated.

My friend Google came up with Germany declaring war on the U.S. 11/12/1941 no mention of the other way round. The U.S. are always slow and cumbersome when it came to getting involved in the last century, Britain had to beg for munitions and supplies early on and the US was very anti war until Pearl harbour made them realise they could not just turn away to be left alone.

Yep they had to be dragged in kicking and screaming as the tyranny of Hitler spread across the rest of the world.

Makes you wonder what would have happened if the Japanese where more careful about who they blew away?

Reciprocated isn't really declaring war though is it? Did they have any choice by then?

    Grunt,

Point taken, at this time in the morning I guess it was a half Google rather than a real Google just grabbed the first half baked thing I came across. The Japs were pretty certain the U.S. was about to enter the war and Pearl Harbour was a pre emptive strike which took out a large part of the the Pacific fleet at that time. They knew what they were on about but couldn't supply their troops in the end and that along with a couple of battles like Midway further damaged the bastards ability to supply their front lines.

Supply is the all conquering detail that defeats the best. Still occuring, the seppos could not advance in Iraq for the same reasons.
