Building under and exposed timber deck
We are building a garage and bedroom under an exisiting deck on an old queenslander, how can I waterproof the rooms below the deck, whilst not having to remove the existing timber deck.

The quick answer is to use a product like Hardies compressed sheet on the decking but lets see what others think.

I nailed batten of different thickness underneath the deck and then screwed corrugated plastic sheeting to them. This provided sufficient slope for water run of.
You could use corrigated iron or similar. Screw through the top corregation and not the bottom one.
