Default Suggested price for Air Conditioner Install

I am getting a couple of seperate Split Air Conditioners fitted.
I have had a quote for $1100.00 + GST to install them both ,This doesn't include the electics as I will do that myself. They are in seperate rooms.

Any idea if this a fair /average price... ????

I regret to say this is probably right on the money. I recently was persuaded by SHMBO to buy a couple of small split system A/Cs. The cost of installation was more than the A/Cs! $600 each as I recall for installation.

It has been put on hold in a combination of disgust and protest.

I was just curious to the "average" price.

I dont think his price is too bad,but as I am doing the electrical,I figured that I should save a couple of hundred dollars at least.

When I bought my system I got some quotes from AC installers which I thought was way over the top so I ended up getting quotes from commercial/ industrial installers* and got the job done for a little over half the cost.

    * find them in the yellow pages, lots of ringing around, tell em a sob story as most dont like to do domestic unless they are close by or quiet.

A few months ago we put in a larger split system, the cost of the install was $660.00 not including the electrician. He was there for the best part of the day and running pipes etc was a bit fiddly, I thought the price was OK considering the job. The 15amp power point for the unit was part of a number of things we had done so that cost was lost within the electricians account.

i install split systems for a job and i usually do weekenders for $400 plumbing only and $600 including electrical if they are a back to back. We get alot of jobs at work because we always try to conceal the pipework if it is possible and practicle but that takes more time and time is money.
If ya can get a split installed for less than that ya doin well.

    Thanks for your replies.

I gave the job to the fellow and I am stuck doing the electrical.

For any one interested, I got a real good price on the AC units from Clive Peters at Auburn in Sydney.

They saved me quite a few hundred dollars on the 2 units,
