Because when you press 100 you are actually pressing 1 hour and 00 seconds.

I think that its actually 1:00, one minute rather than 100.

Perhaps your counting is fine but your eyesight isn't what is used to be?

That's because you are using an imperial microwave. Buy a new metric one.

Actually, when I press 1:00 on mine, I get 59. Have I been ripped off?

No, don't buy a metric one ! We made that mistake here and they are only good for cooking food per gram or KG. They won't cook a 4lb chook for instance, only a 1.5kg chook.

I think they are coming out with one soon which will do both but it could be price prohibitive.

If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

60 seconds is the "old measure", 100 is the new decimal minute, it goes along with military time 00:00 - 24:00 all to do with 10 as the common denominator. Or something like that, anyway that's what the bloke at the appliance store said when I went in and bought one!....

I didn't think that was coming until until 2008 when we move to metric time and have 10 hours in a day. 10 days in a week, 10 weeks in a month and 10 months in a year.

100... and they're called gron, grades or gradians!

Brought to you courtesy of the same wankers who invented the metric system: the frog eaters.

    Iain, I think that 100 = 180; 50 = 90; 25 = 45, etc....

Gumby I didn't think that was coming until until 2008 when we move to metric time and have 10 hours in a day. 10 days in a week, 10 weeks in a month and 10 months in a year.

Gumby, I heard it was 2010, because they are afraid it may cause a problem setting the clocks New Years eve!... Unless they start making wrist watchs now in 2010 we may all be carrying a microwave strapped to our wrist's just incase someone ask's us "Excuse me!, have you got the correct time?..". to which you tell them the correct time, and they say "damd!, my microwave must be slow, again!"
