It's easy to recognise all the local species in your area. Especially when there's only a handful of 'em.
I'm betting that any one of us friggin' eastern states mongrels could post pix of several dozen of our local timbers that'd have you scratching yer pointy little head.

Sooo whats me prize yer young gnome like nipperoo?
Actually it wasnt soooooo hard you know... these east coast wallys coulda and shoulda picked it easy as
All they would need to do is go to the nipperoos website and look at the pics of his turned peices first one up is a MARRI one the timber looks sorta maybe a little kinda like those blurry ones the gnome like one posted!
But still... a win is a win as they say! Soooo whaddid I win?Believe me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

I still reckon it looks like wood.
I actually picked up a but of Marri in the shed tonight while I was out looking for something hard for Slow6 in our box swap, it wasn't spalted.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Only 30% of Marri has that spalting in it, that is the only reason you were able to find a piece in Queensland

I didn't find it in Qld, it wasn't lost....
I got it off an old bloke in Pemberton when I was there about 3 years ago.Cliff.
